A grounded Shadowdark actual play set in a low-fantasy world where names hold power and a handful of unlikely heroes shape a continent
Nomenclad is a medieval tale set in a strange world with 24 hours of daylight and 24 hours of darkness. Every night, wandering damned roam the world, hungering for life. Yet the people live on—thriving even—enough to squabble over land and titles as every society in the throes of feudalism tends to do. A plague in the north, a crusade in the east, a conqueror in the south, and a civil war in the middle. Two forms of magic vie for control over it all.

Actual Play

A Game Master weaving an original homebrew world into the rules of Shadowdark.

A Half-Nullwoman Onomancer of two worlds, walking two dangerous paths of magic.

A Human Thief and dashing noble sworn to fairness in a land built on power.

A Human Plague Doctor and wandering herbalist whose healing is as helpful as it is illegal.

A Potion-Born Grimoire Knight and prince in shining armor who should have never been crowned.

What started as an idea for a short story quickly turned into a homebrew world meant for a table playing a tabletop roleplaying game. After countless attempts at adapting the rules for 5e, Jaden scrapped it all and switched to Shadowdark. After homebrewing a couple of classes, this system quickly became the crew's choice for telling their tale. The long-term goal is to release this actual play as either a novel or campaign setting—maybe both!
